I bet there are a lot of people like me who stay away from family and thus have to travel on local transport. I remember when I first came to Mumbai I would pay just 11 bucks in an auto (minimum) but gradually, it’s gone two folds higher! Thankfully, there are a fleet of cab services in Mumbai that offer you the same service at the same rate while saving your hair and face from all that dust and grime. 😀
Founded in 2010 by two IIT passouts Bhavish Agarwal and Ankit Bhati in Bangalore, ola cab is the first cab service that comes to my mind when you say radio taxi. Everything in their system is online, right from booking to even tracking their passengers for pick-up. The other day I was in south Mumbai not sure of my location, but the driver was prompt and came to pick me up through their GPS enabled tracking on time! I don’t think I have seen this particular feature in any other cab service yet. They for me are one of the best cab services in Mumbai. And the icing on the cake – they have an array of different cab services for all budget and purpose:
- Ola Prime — A business-class car service for luxury travel available in a few cities.
- Ola Sedan — A regular-class car service aimed at providing the customers a spacious car for comfortable travel.
- Ola Mini — An economic-class car service to serve customers looking for affordable personal transportation.
- Ola Pink — A cab driven by a lady driver that service lady travelers.
- Ola Auto — An auto service provided to the customers.
Taxi For Sure
When IITs did ola, can IIMs be far behind? Haha! Yes, this was started in Bangalore again by two IIM grads – Aprameya Radhakrishna and Raghunandan G. I count them in as they were my saviors when my folks were in town. I had already booked a cab at a certain time from another cab service (none of the ones mentioned here) but at the end moment they cancelled saying no cabs available. If it was not for taxi for sure, all our plans would have been foiled. They reached the pick-up destination in flat 20 mins from when I called them! The best part – you get to travel in an ac sedan at the price of a hatchback non ac taxi. That factor is a sure winner for me!
A bit on the expensive side, meru is a service I have been using since I was in Bangalore. I guess they are the pioneers of the radio cab service in India as they launched in 2007 in Mumbai with just a fleet of 45 cars! For me, they qualify as the most reliable cab services for your last moment travel needs as they are the most experienced, their only drawback being their costly charges! If I had to rely on airport transfers, I would dial only them.
I don’t know how many of you have heard of savaari but I really like their service, especially their outstation cab service. Cost efficient, comfortable cars and experienced drivers, what else does one need more from an outstation cab service? What I have come to know from my experience with savaari is they outsource cars from local operators at a much lower rate than the normal. Smart thing to do I must say!
I personally always look for cost effective options and there could be nothing better for me than to have a platform where I can compare all the taxi service in Mumbai.
