After my last article on Dabur Vatika Enriched hair oil, I got a lot of queries on the various recommended DIY home remedies for different hair problems. I am mostly lazy to do anything by myself but occasionally when I go home (or my folks come over), my mom makes sure that she gives me home-made hair packs and oil mixtures. I have funny hair, where the roots are oily and sweaty and the rest of the hair is thin and dry. I also tend to have naturally brown hair, which, when extremely dry, resembles dry coconut husk (no kidding!)

Without going any further into explaining anything about my hair, I am gonna share with you all that my mom and paternal aunt did to make my hair the way it is (I was born practically bald, so) . And trust me, these are some really doable quick DIY remedies for hair problems using Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut oil and all things readily (and cheaply) available:

Coconut oil and honey mask for dry and damaged hair

Heat some coconut oil and add some honey to it. While it is still warm, apply it on the hair and leave it on for an hour and a half.

Coconut oil and egg yolk mask adds shine to lack lustre hair

Now you know what to do with those leftover egg yolks from your healthy diet, don’t you? Do not however heat the oil or even wash off the mask with warm water else the egg will cook and create a mess.

Coconut oil, yogurt/curd and lemon juice helps fight dandruff and smell causing bacteria

Dandruff is a problem almost every second person is facing. Making a mask using juice of half a lemon with curd and a teaspoon of Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut oil and apply it on the scalp relieves itching, scalp infections and dandruff causing bacteria. Keep it atleast for an hour.

Coconut oil and crushed naphthalene balls fights lice

During school times, we have all faced this issue atleast once. Heating up some coconut oil with some crushed naphthalene balls kills and lice and keeps the scalp fresh. Apply it or no more than 15 minutes.

Fenugreek infused coconut oil aids in faster hair growth

Popularly known as methi seeds, they have been an age old ritual in every Indian household for cooking as well as a natural medicine for various ailments. Powder methi seeds, simmer in coconut oil and leave to ferment in the sun for a week.

Mixed hot oil massage is a foolproof overnight stress-buster and solution for nourished hair

Equal proportions of olive+almond+castor+coconut oils warmed and applied overnight. One can also add essential oils for relaxed muscles like peppermint, lavender or anything that catches your fancy.

Coconut oil and banana mash mask is a healthy conditioner for dense and thick hair

I personally do not like applying this because of the mess it leaves behind but then, this is undeniably one of the best packs for overall conditioning of the hair. Mash the banana really smooth to reduce the trouble of washing it off.

Coconut oil, avocado mash and milk is very helpful for extremely dry and frizzy hair

You can also alternatively use milk cream to tame extremely frizzy hair. Mash the avocado well with some milk and coconut oil and leave on for an hour and a half.

Coconut oil with crushed hibiscus flower gives darker, thicker hair while reducing hairfall

This is that one remedy that helped me with darker hair. Having born with light golden brown sparse hair was a depressing thing but thanks to my aunt without whom I would not have had the hair I have now.

Henna leaves infused coconut oil reduces premature greying and hairfall

Henna has been a customary tradition in Indian houses. However, applying henna pack can be very drying for the hair. Instead, infuse fresh henna leaves in boiling coconut oil for 4-5mins and store it for further use.
