I have never been confident in wearing a skirt – especially the long straight skirts. Having a flat behind makes me a little conscious of wearing anything snugly fit, hence I prefer wearing flared or boxy bottoms that makes an illusion of a comparatively heavier bottom.
Skirts with boxy pleats are my favourite since they visibly cover my flat butt but then, as I was taking a stroll down the street shops beside my house, I saw this black floral long skirt and bought it. It has been lying in my wardrobe for more than six months now because I just did not know how to wear it without looking flat! Also, it was a tad too long for me and I was too lazy to go to the tailor and get it fixed.
And then, the crazy Mumbai Monsoon started! The good part about the monsoon here is the strong wind that comes along. While it may make everything dusty, it sure is very pleasant. I took out my much forgotten floral skirt and thought of ways I can wear it so it doesn’t brush against the floor while also looking good. I like bright colours during monsoons for some reason so while I would usually opt for a black basic top to wear with it, I instead took out my mustard yellow kurta and tucked it into my skirt that I wore high waisted. Because I tend to have a yellow undertone, I balanced the look with brick coloured lips and a retro style hairband with my matte black maddy shades.

Its OK to try things you are not confident about once in a while. For me, I was really happy with the way this skirt ended up looking on me and I have a little more confidence now to go about wearing a long skirt while also doing some squats and leg crunches!! 😀
