Biryani is a dish every Indian cherish. It’s a part of our culture. After relocating from Bangalore to Mumbai, I have never had very satisfying biryani. But when I saw Ammi’s Biryani opening doors to Mumbai that too right beside my residence, I was overwhelmed.
I was a big fan of Ammi’s biryani when in Bangalore. But our experience in their new outlet in Malad, Mumbai has been rather disappointing. First things first. Very average tasting biryanis (trust me I make them better), less on quantity, and the curries are very highly priced.
We ordered for egg biryani, which was bland and average in taste and the egg (only 1) had its shell on it (which is still forgiveable). Since we were two of us, we also ordered two paranthas and a curry. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the curry. We ordered the Shahi Angara Chicken Kofta. It was served along with the paranthas (in the same plate) and the portion was a small cup of gravy with three marble sized chicken balls in it. We were shocked to see the quantity as they have priced the curries at around 120 bucks! Seriously? But damn, it tasted pretty good.
Overall an average experience.
