Overall, Neerja is a must watch. Do not miss this one.

neerja review

Movies based on true events are not new in Bollywood. What matters is its presentation and when I say Neerja is indeed exceptional, trust me! It takes you through the life of Neerja Bhanot, a girl-next-door who works as a flight attendant and how her brave and selfless actions turn her into a hero.

neerja review

The trailer gives away that the film is about a flight hijack. The man, Ram Madhvani & his filmmaking skills are sheer genius and not to forget that it’s his directorial debut. The film begins with Neerja’s day-to-day life and terrorists planning the hijack, simultaneously. 90+ minutes of the film plays in-flight but not even for a second you are bored. The film keeps you on the edge of your seat and the climax will just leave you teary-eyed.

Sonam Kapoor has undoubtedly given the best performance of her career till date. She actually owns the character and is thoroughly convincing as Neerja Bhanot. Every single thing about her in the film is just perfect. She has very well-enacted scenes, high on emotions and drama. My favorite scenes are ones with her husband and the scene where she sings “Mere Sapno Ki Rani”. All I can say is that finally Sonam Kapoor has arrived as a performer. Due credit goes to Ram Madhvani for bringing out the best in her.

Shabana Azmi is flawless as always. Shekhar Ravjiani’s acting is as good as his music compositions. The remaining cast fits their part perfectly.

neerja review

Majority of Bollywood films fail to stick to the point but Neerja is an exception. The story does not wander and is straight to the point. Cinematography was great. The production team did a kickass job with building a mock flight. The edit of Neerja with present scenes & flashbacks is noteworthy. The story is so powerful that the music and background score doesn’t deafen you but perfectly amplify the scenes.
